1-on-1 in-home lesson for Staten Island families

A real project your child can explain afterward

How the trial works

One class should answer the real question.

Not "does my child like computers?" You already know that. The trial shows whether they like building, debugging, and sticking with an idea long enough to make it work.

01

Book a trial

Pick a time and tell us your child's age, interests, and experience level. We use that to choose the first project.

02

Your child builds

They build a small game, animation, Minecraft idea, Roblox concept, Python starter, or web project based on what fits.

03

You get a clear plan

Afterward, you get a plain-English read on what clicked, what was hard, and whether weekly lessons make sense.

Parent problem

AI is not the enemy. Passive thinking is.

The fix is not banning every tool. It is giving your child a reason to think, test, explain, and build something with their own hands.

In your home

The free trial is private and local for Staten Island families, with a first project matched to your child.

Built around creativity

We use coding to make thinking visible: your child explains choices, fixes mistakes, and improves the project.

During the trial

We start small

The first project is intentionally focused so your child gets a win and we can see how they think.

After the trial

You get the next step

If it fits, we recommend a weekly plan. If not, you still leave knowing what kind of coding activity to try.

Pricing after trial

$75 per hour

Private lessons are available in 60 and 90 minute formats. We only recommend ongoing lessons if the trial shows a real fit.

Proof

The win is not just the project. It is hearing them explain it.

"I made the character move by myself."

Beginner student after a first Scratch project

"He actually explained what went wrong instead of just saying it broke."

Parent recap after a debugging lesson

"Can we add a boss level next time?"

Student planning the next build

Best fit

This is for the kid who needs to make something.

Kids ages 7-11 who use screens constantly but need more active thinking

Parents worried their child is outsourcing too much to AI, YouTube, or apps

Beginners who have never coded before and need a patient first win

Families deciding whether private lessons are worth it before paying

What parents should feel after the trial

You should know whether your child enjoys this, how they handle frustration, what kind of projects motivate them, and whether weekly private lessons make sense.

The goal is not to turn every kid into a software engineer.

The goal is to help them think, build, persist, and use technology with purpose.

Common questions

What parents ask before booking.

Book free class

Is it really free? What is the catch?

Yes. The first trial class is free. No card is required, and you do not owe anything if it is not a fit.

How long is the trial?

The trial is 45 minutes. That is enough time to start a small project, see how your child handles problem-solving, and decide whether weekly lessons make sense.

Will I need to be there?

A parent or adult should be home for the in-home trial, but you do not need to sit through the whole lesson. We will give you the recap afterward.

Does my child need coding experience?

No. The trial is built for beginners. We start with a small project and adjust based on how your child thinks and learns.

Is this just more screen time?

It is screen time with a purpose. Instead of watching or scrolling, your child is making decisions, testing ideas, fixing mistakes, and building something real.

What if my kid hates it?

Then we stop there. The point of the trial is to find out before you commit. Some kids need a different format, and we will tell you honestly.

What happens after the trial?

If it is a fit, we recommend a weekly private lesson plan and explain what your child should build next. Current private sessions are $75 per hour.

Can this work with self-direction budgets?

Sometimes. If you are planning to use OPWDD self-direction, mention that when booking so we can confirm the paperwork and billing path before lessons start.

Give them one class where screens become useful.

If your child likes games, puzzles, stories, robots, or making things, the trial class is the cleanest way to see if AvendraLabs fits.
